KL Rahul said that the final of the 2011 World Cup was very exciting. I remember when we lost two quick wickets, many of my friends left the match and went back home.

KL Rahul, who is captaining Team India in the absence of Rohit Sharma in the three-match home ODI series Ind vs Aus, has recalled the 2011 World Cup victory. In an interview given to JioCinema, Rahul said that when India won the World Cup 2011 final, he was in Bengaluru and watching the match with some friends. Rahul said that that victory was a moment of pride for every Indian and we will try to repeat it in the next few months.

Left the match after two wickets fell – Rahul

Rahul said that the World Cup 2011 final was very exciting. I remember when we lost two wickets early, many of my friends left the match and went back home and we were scared that we might lose the match and have to face traffic after the match, but As soon as we reached home, we saw that a partnership was formed between Gautam Gambhir and MS Dhoni, which won the match and when we won the match, we drove to the busiest area of Bengaluru. The view of Bengaluru was very different. Everyone was immersed in the celebration of victory.

We will repeat that time in 2023- KL Rahul

KL Rahul further said that the 2011 victory was a proud moment for all of us and hopefully we will repeat it for the people of our country. We will make the best of what we have for the next few months. Let us tell you that under the captaincy of KL Rahul, India defeated Australia by 5 wickets in the Mohali ODI. Rahul’s captaincy innings (52 runs) was also included in that victory.

Rahul also talked about his fitness before the second ODI to be played in Indore on Sunday. Rahul responded to people questioning his fitness and said, “Everyone has seen me playing in the Asia Cup, I have played all the Super 4 matches and also kept behind the wicket. Along with this, I have also scored runs with the bat, so I think this is the answer for all those who are questioning my fitness. Hopefully, I will end the two-month wait for the World Cup and Australia series like this.”
