Asia Cup: Afghanistan team is out of Asia Cup 2023 after two runs defeat against Sri Lanka.

The Afghanistan cricket team has been out of the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 after losing the thrilling match against Sri Lanka by two runs on 5 September. Despite this heartbreaking defeat, this match will be one to remember for Mujeeb ur Rahman and Mohammad Nabi as they have achieved some memorable achievements in Lahore.

In fact, Afghanistan spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman has completed 150 wickets in international cricket, becoming the fourth player from his country to achieve this feat. Mujeeb achieved this feat against Sri Lanka by taking one wicket for 60 runs in his 10 overs. Let us tell you, Mujeeb Ur Rahman has taken 150 wickets in 110 international matches at an average of 23.19 and an economy rate of 4.61, with his best bowling figures being 5/20.

Mohammad Nabi broke the record of Mujeeb ur Rahman

He has taken four-wicket hauls four times and five-wicket hauls twice in international cricket. She is the fourth-highest wicket-taker in international cricket after Rashid Khan (336), Mohammad Nabi (249) and Daulat Zadran (155). Let us tell you, Mujeeb has taken one wicket in his only Test, while he has taken 93 wickets in 66 ODIs at an average of 25.86 and 56 wickets in 43 T20Is at an average of 17.83.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan’s veteran all-rounder Mohammad Nabi has completed 5,000 runs in international cricket, becoming the first Afghanistan player to do so. Nabi played a brilliant inning of 65 runs in 32 balls in the 2023 Asia Cup match against Sri Lanka, during which he hit six fours and five sixes. During his innings, Nabi became the fastest cricketer to score a half-century for Afghanistan in the history of ODI cricket.

Mohammad Nabi brought up his half-century in just 24 balls, breaking the record held by Mujeeb Ur Rahman (26 balls). He also became the highest run-scorer for Afghanistan in international cricket, followed by Mohammad Shahzad (4,811 in 156 matches) and Asghar Afghan (4,246 in 195 matches). Nabi now has 5,011 runs in 259 international matches at a strike rate of 99.22 and an average of 24.56. He has scored one century and 21 half-centuries in 238 innings, and his best score is 116.
