Former Netherlands cricketer Stephen Myburgh has expressed sadness over the limited number of teams in the cricket world.

Recently, the West Indies were out of the race to participate in the World Cup after losing three consecutive Super Six matches in the ongoing World Cup qualifiers in Zimbabwe. West Indies will no longer play in the ICC World Cup 2023 to be held in India in October-November this year. Ever since West Indies got out, this issue is in discussion everywhere and West Indies are being criticized a lot. From cricket fans to cricket experts and former cricketers from all sides are giving their opinion. Apart from this, former Netherlands cricketer Stephen Myberg has raised questions on a rule of the World Cup, expressing his disappointment over the exclusion of the West Indies.

Stephen Myberg says that the truth is that cricket is being destroyed by limiting the number of teams in the Cricket World Cup. He says that the World Cup should be like the World Cup. Meaning that the World Cup should be contested by at least 16 teams. Along with this, he said that the number of participants in all other sports is increasing except cricket. Very sad, West Indies should still be in the World Cup.

For your information, let us tell you that the upcoming World Cup will be played only among 10 teams, out of which 8 teams had entered directly while the remaining 2 teams will participate here by playing qualifiers. Ten teams also participated in the qualifiers in Zimbabwe, out of which only Sri Lanka has qualified for the World Cup so far. Sri Lanka beat hosts Zimbabwe and confirmed their place.
Now one last team has to be taken forward in this race, which will be decided soon.

The two-time World Cup winner West Indies broke the dream of playing the World Cup itself due to their poor performance. This is the first time in 48 years in the history of the ODI World Cup that the West Indies will not be a part of the World Cup. The last World Cup 2019 was also disappointing for the West Indies as the West Indies finished ninth in that tournament.
