Mumbai Indians had bowed down to Hardik Pandya's condition and then the decision was taken to remove Rohit Sharma from the captaincy.

Hardik Pandya vs Rohit Sharma: IPL franchise Mumbai Indians announced on Friday that in the next season i.e. IPL 2024, Mumbai will be captained not by Rohit Sharma but by Hardik Pandya. It was said from the Mumbai side that this decision has been taken keeping in mind the future of the team and the franchise thanked Rohit Sharma for his contribution.

Mumbai had bought Hardik Pandya from Gujarat Titans ahead of the IPL 2024 auction, but the story behind the scenes is different. Hardik Pandya did not join the Mumbai team so easily. To come back to Mumbai again, he had put a condition before Mumbai that he would come back only if he was made the captain of the team.

Hardik had set the condition of making him captain

According to our associate newspaper Indian Express, Hardik Pandya had made it clear to the Mumbai team owner that if he wanted to get him back, it would happen only if he was made the captain of the team. After much deliberation, the Mumbai franchise agreed to Hardik Pandya, and Rohit Sharma was informed about it during the ODI World Cup 2023. After this, Rohit Sharma left the decision about the future of the team to the franchise and then Mumbai took this step.
