The Indian cricket team has won the 3-match T20 series against Afghanistan, winning spectacularly in the first two matches. While emerging players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shivam Dube, Ravi Bishnoi, and Axar Patel have showcased their skills, team captain Rohit Sharma has faced challenges with his form.
After being run out without scoring runs in the first match, Rohit suffered another blow, getting out for a duck in the second match. Despite acknowledging Rohit’s undeniable ability, former India cricketer Aakash Chopra has questioned his shot selection, especially after his unusual dismissal in the second T20I on Sunday.

Rohit Sharma decided to move onto the pitch and take an aggressive shot off the first ball of Fazalhaq Farooqi. Unfortunately, he missed the ball completely and the ball hit the stumps. In a video on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra did not hold back from expressing criticism of the Indian captain’s shot selection.
Chopra said, “The way Rohit got out was shocking. He was playing his first ball. He doesn’t play shots like that. The ball went and hit his stumps. In the last match, he was run out and was bowled on zero in this match. He has not scored a single run in this series so far. ”
He further said, ‘It was not his mistake to run out but the shot selection was there. There is no doubt about Rohit Sharma’s form and ability. However, he will have to be in form in the IPL and I think he will bat like that. We need 38-40 runs, which he scored with his bat in the ODI World Cup. ”
As the competition for the starting spot intensifies ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024, Rohit finds himself competing against emerging talents like Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and others.
Virat Kohli, returning to T20 after a gap of 14 months, also showed an aggressive attitude in the match. He played a quick knock of 29 off 16 balls before being dismissed by Naveen-ul-Haq.
