In the ongoing World Test Championship final against India, Steve Smith scored a century, becoming the third player for Australia to achieve this milestone.

During the final of the World Test Championship between India and Australia, Steve Smith completed his century on the second day of the match. He accomplished this feat by hitting two consecutive fours in the opening over of Mohammed Shami. On the first day of the final, Travis Head also scored a century, remaining unbeaten on 146, while Steve Smith reached 95 not out. Steve Smith completed his century in 229 balls, marking his seventh century on English soil and surpassing Matthew Hayden’s record.

Ricky Ponting, the former captain, holds the record for the most centuries scored for Australia with 41. Steve Waugh follows at number two with 32 centuries. Steve Smith has now secured the third spot on this list, having scored 31 centuries. Matthew Hayden has 30 centuries, and Sir Don Bradman has 29.

Steve Smith, Australia’s most reliable batsman, completed his century in 229 balls, hitting 16 fours in his innings. He has consistently performed well in knockout games of ICC events. In the 2015 World Cup, he scored a fifty in the quarter-finals, followed by a century in the semi-finals, and another fifty in the final. In the 2019 World Cup, he scored fifty in the semi-finals and a century in the final of the World Test Championship.
