England’s bazball failed to reach against India on the first day of the IND vs ENG opening Test in Hyderabad. The visitors could not play the ball at the right time and were dismissed for 246, with Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja taking three wickets each respectively.

Yashasvi Jaiswal launched a scathing attack on the English bowlers in the final session at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium.

India is in a dominating position in the first match of the five-match Test series. The hosts trail England by 127 runs in the first innings. Yashasvi Jaiswal’s counter-attacking knock upset England and legendary pacer Zaheer Khan lauded the southpaw.

“He deserves more praise for his efforts. He played brilliantly against England. Yashasvi Jaiswal’s technique is good on the front foot. He also played good strokes from the backfoot. Jaiswal moves his legs very well. These three qualities make him an attractive stroke maker. They put pressure on the bowlers and we saw their exceptional shots. The young batsman played positively right from the start of his innings,” Zaheer told Colors Cineplex.

Jaiswal remained unbeaten on 76 off 70 balls and scored his runs with a strike of 108.57. He hit 9 fours and 3 sixes and shared an 80-run partnership with skipper Rohit Sharma, who scored 24 off 27 balls.

Jaiswal joined the elite club along with Gautam Gambhir and KL Rahul. He is the third Indian batsman to score the most runs while batting at number two in the first day’s play. Gambhir scored an unbeaten 85 against Zimbabwe in 2005, while Rahul scored an unbeaten 76 against West Indies in 2016.
