IND vs PAK: In the Asia Cup, a reserve day has been kept for the Super 4 match between India and Pakistan, while this has not been done for the rest of the matches.

In the Asia Cup 2023, a Super-4 match will be played between India and Pakistan on Sunday.
There is a threat of rain on this match to be held at the R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo. It has been decided to have a reserve day for the match, regarding which controversy has started. The Bangladesh coach had earlier given a statement that he was not informed about this.
At the same time, the Bangladesh Cricket Board proved its coach a liar within a few hours of the statement.

Bangladeshi coach not happy with the decision of reserve day

Sri Lankan coach Chris Silverwood and Bangladeshi coach Chandrika Hathurasingha were not happy with the decision to have a reserve day for the India-Pakistan match. Both the teams are to face each other on September 9 and in the press conference held earlier, the Bangladesh coach expressed his displeasure.

He said, “There are representatives of six countries in the technical committee of the Asia Cup, so they have taken this decision for some other reason. This is not right, we should also have been given an extra day. I do not want to comment further on this as the decision has already been taken. If we were asked, we would have definitely given our opinion. It was clear from his statement that the team was not aware of this.

BCB gave clarification

Just a few hours after this statement, the Bangladesh Cricket Board gave an official statement calling its own coach wrong. He tweeted and wrote, ‘A reserve day has been kept for the match between India and Pakistan in the Asia Cup Super 4 stage. We want to make it clear that this decision has been taken with the consent of all four teams and the ACC. Sri Lanka Cricket also tweeted a similar tweet stating their agreement with the decision.

Almost identical tweets from both boards led to a flood of memes. People started trolling the Bangladesh and Sri Lanka boards for bowing down to BCCI. Some wrote that the board has received money from BCCI. At the same time, some even called him a copycat for tweeting the same.

Sri Lankan coach Silverwood also appeared surprised by this decision. He said, ‘Of course, I was surprised to hear this. We are not organizers so we could not do much about it. He also said that this will cause problems when India and Pakistan get points and it will affect the points table.
