IND vs WI 3rd T20: Former Indian opener and current cricket expert Wasim Jaffer has called for a major change in the Indian playing 11 for the third T20I against the West Indies. Jaffer says that Ishaan Kishan is not looking in good form in T20 cricket at the moment. In such a situation, he should be given rest. In his place, Jafar has said to play Yashasvi Jaiswal. Jaiswal earned a lot of accolades for his stellar performance in IPL 2023 and the 2-match test series against West Indies.
He got a chance to make his Test debut against the West Indies on the West Indies vs India tour where he made records for scoring runs. Now Jaffer says that Yashasvi is looking forward to his first match in T20 cricket as well. In such a situation, he should be given a chance in the third T20.
Speaking to ESPNcricinfo, Jaffer said, ‘We know that Ishan Kishan is not in the best form in T20 cricket at the moment and is constantly struggling, That’s why they should be given him a break. He will be able to make a strong comeback when he plays next time.
Ishan Kishan scored half-centuries in all three matches of the ODI series against the West Indies. But he seems to be struggling a lot in T20. In the first two T20 matches of the West Indies vs India T20 series, only 33 runs have come off his bat. In such a situation, Jaffer wants Yashasvi Jaiswal to replace Ishan Kishan in the upcoming third T20. The kind of game Yashasvi Jaiswal has shown in IPL 2023 and Test matches on the West Indies tour is amazing and he should now get a chance to show his skills in T20I as well.
The former opener further said ‘I would pick Yashasvi Jaiswal without any doubt because he brings fearlessness. He plays well against spin and his batting against fast bowlers is exemplary. He’s at the top of his game, brimming with confidence, so why not put him on the team and see what you get? He has run in Tests and is looking for opportunities in short-form games as well. You can get a breath of fresh air like you got with Tilak Verma, so why not him??
