Mukesh Kumar originally arrived in Kolkata in 2012 to assist his father in driving a taxi.

Bengal’s aggressive fast bowler Mukesh Kumar has been included in Team India for the first time for the upcoming two-match Test series and three-match ODI series against West Indies. The path of the right-arm fast bowler from Kankar Kund village in Bihar’s remote Gopalganj district to staying in Kolkata’s Eden Gardens hostel and making the Indian cricket squad is impressive.

He first came to Kolkata in 2012 to help his father drive a taxi. He had to go through many ups and downs before reaching here, and during this time the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) and Sourav Ganguly helped him a lot. Mukesh Kumar was overcome with excitement after being chosen for the West Indies tour and credited his success to Sourav Ganguly, CAB, and veteran Bengal fast bowler Ranadeb Bose.

I would not have lived if it hadn’t been for Sourav Ganguly and CAB: Mukesh Kumar.

Let us remind you that Mukesh’s father, the late Kashinath Singh, who died in 2019, opposed cricket and preferred Mukesh join the Central Reserve Police Force. But due to being thin, Mukesh failed the CRPF exam twice and then after playing for the Bihar Under-19 team, the dream of becoming a cricketer got wings. However, CAB took Mukesh Kumar under its shelter in 2020 and took care of everything for him.

Now he is all set to become the next star of Indian cricket. Meanwhile, Mukesh Kumar said that playing Test cricket was his dream and now that he is so close to it, it is difficult for him to describe the feeling. He said that seeing his rise, his father must be very happy from above.

My ambition is currently in front of me: Mr Mukesh Kumar

PTI reported Mukesh Kumar as saying: “It has been said that if you don’t play Test cricket, what do you play?” My dream is currently in front of me. I’ve always wanted to play a Test match for India, and now I have the opportunity. I’m sure my father is pleased with my progress. Mummy and Papa’s support has always been there for me, and I’d like to thank all of my friends and CAB’s Vision 2020 for believing in me.

Sourav Ganguly sir, Joydeep Mukherjee sir, and my mentor Randeb Bose sir, who has always helped me in red-ball cricket, are among those who have inspired me. I don’t think I would have lived without their assistance. From where it began to where it has progressed, it appears to be a dream.
