Mallika has performed the responsibility of auctioneer well in the first season of Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2023. She then conducted the auction of cricketers in her unique style and style, which was greatly appreciated. She has also been auctioned in Pro Kabaddi League 2021 before WPL.

Mallika is originally from Mumbai. She is an art collector. She earned a degree in art history from Bryn Mawr College in Philadelphia. After this, she started her career as an auctioneer at Christie’s in 2001. She became the first auctioneer of Indian origin and the first woman in that role at Christie’s. In the year 2021, Mallika also got auctioned in the Pro Kabaddi League and only after this did she get a chance in the Women’s Premier League.

BCCI has given the responsibility of conducting the auction of IPL and WPL to Mallika Sagar. Mallika had also taken up the responsibility of the WPL auction last time but this is the first time when she will bid in the IPL as well. No woman has ever done this before.

Richard Medley will not take part

Let us tell you that Richard Medley was the longest-serving auctioneer in IPL. He is a resident of Wales.
He carried out this work from 2008 to 2018. Since 2018, this responsibility has been held by Hugh Adams, a resident of Britain. Adams became an auctioneer in 2019. His health deteriorated during the 2022 mega auction. Adams fell on the stage while bidding on the first day of the auction, after which he had to be taken to hospital.

Due to his sudden fainting, the auction was halted for some time and then Charu Sharma took over the role of auctioneer. Charu Sharma had got the auction done but he was not the first choice. However, Adams returned in the final stage on the second day of the mega auction. Now BCCI has given this responsibility to an Indian.
