Sreesanth was one of the three Rajasthan Royals players who were banned from cricket for their involvement in the 2013 IPL spot-fixing scandal. Sreesanth has accused his former teammate Gautam Gambhir of calling him a "fixer" during a Legends League match in Surat.

Shanthakumaran Sreesanth’s cricket career and controversies are synonymous with each other. When Sreesanth played, he was counted among the best fast bowlers in the world. However, he remained in the headlines more due to controversies than taking wickets. Sreesanth, who spent time in Tihar jail due to his name in IPL spot-fixing, has also been in the headlines for getting into trouble with fellow players. Even if there was a fight, it was only with the players playing together for India.

There was a heated argument between former Team India cricketer Gautam Gambhir and Sreesanth during the Legends League Cricket 2023 (LLC 2023) match in Surat. Sreesanth has accused Gambhir of calling him a fixer. Not only this, he even commented on Gabhir’s Instagram post, which increased the controversy. Gambhir and Sreesanth have been part of both Team India which won the T20 World Cup in 2007 and the ODI World Cup in 2011.

Harbhajan slapped Sreesanth in an IPL Match

Sreesanth was slapped by Harbhajan Singh during the Indian Premier League 2007 (IPL 2008) match between Mumbai Indians (MI) and then Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). Harbhajan was also a part of Team India in both the World Cups. That means Sreesanth has spent a lot of time with Gambhir and Harbhajan in the dressing room.

Sreesanth cried badly on the ground

When Harbhajan slapped him, Sreesanth started crying bitterly on the field itself. Harbhajan Singh was banned. Last year, Bhajji apologized to Sreesanth for this. He had said that this should not have happened. When he thinks about it he feels that there was no need to slap him.

Grabbed the catch of Misbah in the WCT20 final in 2007

Sreesanth played a key role in India’s 2007 T20 World Cup victory. He took the catch of Misbah-ul-Haq on the ball of Joginder Sharma in the final. Sreesanth was also a part of the playing eleven of the 2011 World Cup final. Played due to an injury to Ashish Nehra.

Sreesanth trapped in IPL spot-fixing

In 2013, Delhi Police arrested Sreesanth on spot-fixing charges. He was one of the three Rajasthan Royals players who were banned from cricket due to spot-fixing in the 2013 IPL. In July 2015, the Patiala House Court dropped all charges against Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila, and Ankeet Chavan in the 2013 IPL spot-fixing case and ruled that no case was made out against them under MCOCA (Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act). Then in March 2019, the Supreme Court lifted the lifetime ban imposed on him.

When Sreesanth created an uproar in South Africa

Talking about Sreesanth’s Test career, he took 87 wickets in 27 Tests. His havoc was visible in a test match on the South Africa tour in 2005-06. Thanks to this, India got its first Test win on Proteas soil. He had taken 8 wickets. He took 5 wickets in the first innings, but this match is remembered for his dance after hitting a six against Andre Nel.
