Sunil Gavaskar says that Pujara has been made a scapegoat.

Team India will go on a West Indies tour next month for Test matches, ODI and T20 series. At the same time, the selection committee of BCCI has announced the Indian team for this series against West Indies. Please tell me that many young players have got a chance for this series. Although there are some players who are not part of Team India.

Please tell that Cheteshwar Pujara has not been included in the Test team. In fact, his performance in the final match of the World Test Championship was nothing special. After which he has not been given a place in the team for the West Indies tour. Meanwhile, former Team India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has raised questions about Cheteshwar Pujara’s exclusion from the team.

Pujara has been made a scapegoat – Sunil Gavaskar

In fact, Sunil Gavaskar says that Pujara has been made a scapegoat because apart from him there are many other batsmen in the team who have failed. He said that clearly only one person has been dropped from the team while others have also flopped. For me, the batting of the whole team was poor. Only Ajinkya Rahane scored 89 and 46 in both innings.

Talking to India Today, Sunil Gavaskar said that apart from Rahane, no one really scored runs. Then why only Cheteshwar Pujara was dropped? Why is he being blamed for our batting struggles? Because they don’t have millions of fans on any platform who would raise their voice about it, that’s why they are thrown out.

He further said that you have thrown him out, it is beyond my understanding. What are the criteria to drop them from the team and keep those who fail? He is playing county cricket. He has also played a lot of red-ball cricket. Players can play cricket till they are 40 or 39 years old. There’s nothing wrong with that because they’re all in great shape. I don’t think age should be a concern as long as you’re scoring runs and taking wickets.

India’s Test team is as follows:

Rohit Sharma (Captain), Ajinkya Rahane (Vice-Captain), Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ishan Kishan, KS Bharat, R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Akshar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Mohammad Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Jaydev Unadkat, Navdeep Saini
