In the context of Test cricket, it is common for players to exchange words during the AUS vs PAK game, although the level of sledding varies depending on the circumstances or situations. While some cricketers engage in friendly banters, others can be more aggressive.
Sometimes, the sled can also turn into a sharp argument. It can be seen as a strategy intended to harass opponents and gain psychological advantage. The cricket world has seen more such incidents against the game.
Although it is important to control emotions a bit, some players lose their temper in excitement and exchange words with the opposition. Recently, during the third and final Test match between Australia and Pakistan at the SCG, Babar Azam and Mitchell Starc were involved in a verbal altercation.
In the third Test, a war of words broke out between Babar Azam and Mitchell Starc
The incident happened during the third over when Mitchell Starc bowled a full-ish ball outside the off stump, which spun a little farther away. On which, the left-handed batsman, Saim Ayub put his front foot forward and decided to leave the ball at the last second.
Seconds later, former Pakistan captain, Babar Azam and Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc got involved in a short verbal skirmish. It’s still unclear who started it first but the two were unhappy about something and vented their feelings out.
Luckily, the altercation lasted for a few seconds and the video clip of it went viral on the internet. Meanwhile, the Australians find themselves in a stronger position at the end of the third day. The hosts gave a tough fight to the guests in the second innings.
By the end of the third day’s play, Pakistan scored 68/7 in 26 overs. The visitors, who lost the first two Tests and the series, managed to take an 82-run lead. They have to play quite sensibly the next day to maintain a little bit of potential in the game.
