AUS vs PAK: The first Test match of the year played at the Sydney Cricket Ground is referred to as the 'Pink Test.' During the match, the stands and signage around the venue, including the stumps, are colored in shades of pink.

The Australian cricket team, ahead of the AUS vs PAK third Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) starting Wednesday, posed wearing pink-colored caps. The Pakistan players also followed suit. This match will be called the Pink Test. The Kangaroo players wearing the baggy pink caps of the baggy green mark the beginning of the Pink Test. The term pink Test does not at all mean that the match will be played with the pink ball.

What is the Pink Test?

The first test match of the year played at Sydney Cricket Ground is called the ‘Pink Test’. During matches, the stands and signs around the venue, including the stumps, are painted pink. The purpose behind the pink test is to spread awareness about breast cancer. Former Australian player Glenn McGrath lost his wife Jane to this disease.

When was the first pink test played?

McGrath launched the McGrath Foundation in 2005 after his wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. The foundation has partnered with Cricket Australia to raise awareness about this problem and raise funds for patients and survivors of this disease.

The first Pink Test was played between Australia and South Africa in 2009, a year after Jane’s death. The test match between Australia and Pakistan will be its 16th edition.

Australia’s record in the Pink Test

Australia has played 15 Pink Tests till now. He has won eight of these. Six matches have been drawn. The team has only lost one pink test. England is the only team to defeat Australia in the Pink Test. In 2011 it won by an innings and 83 runs.

What is the pink ball test?

The Day-Night Test is also known as the Pink Ball Test. A red colored leather ball is used in test matches. Players have difficulty seeing the red ball during day-night matches. For this reason, a pink-colored clay ball is used. Australia also has an excellent record in the pink ball test. The team has not lost even a single match to date.
