(Phnom Penh) – An investor and shareholder of YY Capital Partners Co., Ltd. has formally petitioned the Ministry of Justice of Cambodia for intervention in a case involving the company’s Chairman, Yamada Taihei, who is accused of serious breaches of trust in the course of the company’s operations.

According to the letters submitted, Yamada Taihei, a Japanese national, allegedly used his position as Chairman to misappropriate company funds, defraud shareholders, and engage in unauthorized financial dealings. Preliminary investigations suggest that approximately USD 4 million may have been diverted for personal gain and that of his associates.

The allegations detail a pattern of misconduct, including inflating real estate purchase prices, creating fictitious business transactions, forging documents, and arranging loans totaling more than USD 7 million under the names of well-known corporations. Some of these funds were reportedly transferred abroad to a bank account held by Yamada Taihei’s spouse.

Additionally, the accused is believed to have established multiple shell companies across Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Japan, using nominees as representatives while retaining full control over their finances.

In Cambodia, criminal charges have already been filed against Yamada Taihei and his associates in at least two cases, leading to the freezing of various assets and bank accounts. Investigations are ongoing, and authorities in other countries, including China, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and the United States, are reportedly examining related allegations of embezzlement, breach of trust, and money laundering.

Through the letters, the investor urges Cambodian authorities and courts to conduct thorough investigations, ensure justice, and hold those responsible accountable under the law. The letters also highlight concerns that influential individuals, including some within the judicial system, might attempt to interfere with the process, potentially allowing the accused to evade accountability or compromise evidence and witnesses.
