India vs England Test series of five matches is scheduled to be played from January 25. The England cricket team is going to come to India on a month-and-a-half-long tour and this Test series is going to be very exciting. This Test series is to be played under the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25. Before this Test series, former England spinner Monty Panesar raised concerns to Ben Stokes and Co. about Team India captain Rohit Sharma.
Former England spinner Monty Panesar has praised Indian captain Rohit Sharma and compared him to Don Bradman, especially on turning pitches. Panesar highlighted Rohit’s exceptional batting skills. Panesar said that the spinners of the England team will have to come up with a good strategy against Rohit. Not only this, he has described Rohit as the Sir Don Bradman of turning pitches.
In an interview with Hindustan Times, when Monty was asked that Indian batsmen show a strong game against spin, but they also face some problems on turning pitches, do you think the current Indian batsmen bat well against spin?
On this, he said, “Indian batsmen play aggressively against the turning ball, they play a little more fearlessly. Rohit Sharma will be the most important for India. Rohit Sharma is the Bradman of turning pitches. His records are incredible. Panesar believes that England will have to get Rohit out quickly throughout the series. If England can keep Rohit calm, then India will have to go to Plan B, After this, you can put pressure on the young batsmen. It will be very important.”
When the England team visited India in 2012-13, Graeme Swann and Monty Panesar together performed strongly and clinched the Test series in India. Since then, no other team in India has won the Test series. India has a strong record in the Test at home ground and in such a situation, this series is not going to be less than a fire test for the England team.
England and India will clash in the upcoming five-Test series, which will kick off on January 25 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. The next four matches will be played in Visakhapatnam (February 2-6), Rajkot (February 15-19), Ranchi (February 23-27) and Dharamsala (March 7-11).
Rohit has been the top performer in the subcontinent’s Test team in recent years. He has scored 3737 runs in 54 Tests at an average of 45.57. He has scored 10 centuries and 16 half-centuries.
