India had to face defeat by 6 wickets in the second ODI against West Indies.

The ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 will be played in India from 5 October. Before the World Cup, Team India will also be a part of the Asia Cup 2023. India is currently playing a three-match ODI series in the West Indies tour. India’s performance in the first two ODIs has been disappointing. In the second ODI, India had to face defeat by 6 wickets. Virat Kohli was going to bat at number 8 in the first ODI.

In the second ODI, both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were rested. Resting Rohit Sharma and Kohli in the second ODI is not going down well with many veteran players and fans. Now cricket commentator Akash Chopra has given a big statement regarding this.

Akash Chopra said this about India’s strategy

Aakash Chopra is currently seen questioning the strategy of keeping Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli out. Aakash Chopra believes that Team India has taken West Indies lightly. Because West Indies could not bat properly in the first ODI. That’s why India did not field key players in the second ODI.

Aakash Chopra while talking on his YouTube channel said, ‘If that was the reason then you too could have got out in a match that your team would have been bowled out for 150 like you scored 181 just now. So, should the West Indies bench Shai Hope? Because this Indian team is very weak? There are really no deductions in my opinion because the World Cup is not far away.

You have played only 8 days in July – Aakash Chopra

Aakash Chopra further emphasized that there is no point in giving rest to players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Aakash Chopra further said, ‘The second point could be that players need rest, a lot of cricket is happening. And workload management is required.

“The fact is that one match (WTC final) was played in June, two matches lasted seven days in July, and one ODI was played. So you played cricket for a total of 8 days in July. At the same time, Akash Chopra also says that after the ODI series against the West Indies, India does not have any ODI matches till the Asia Cup. In such a situation, the workload is going to be even less.
