Rob Walter said that Quinton de Kock was earlier planning to retire from all formats, However, after talking to the team management, he changed his decision. De Kock wants to play in T20 leagues around the world.

South Africa’s limited overs team coach Rob Walter has recently made a big revelation about Quinton de Kock. He says that Quinton de Kock wanted to retire from T20 cricket along with ODI, but keeping in mind the T20 World Cup 2024, he was prevented from taking this decision. Quinton de Kock had announced his retirement from 50 over format even before the start of World Cup 2023, he had said that this is going to be his last tournament in the ODI format. Let us tell you, De Kock has already retired from Test cricket.

While announcing South Africa’s T20, ODI, and Test squads against India on Monday, Walter told reporters that Quinton de Kock initially wanted to retire from all formats, but he was prevented from doing so. After talking to the team management, this wicket-keeper batsman announced his retirement only from the ODI format.

Let us tell you, Quinton de Kock retired from two formats at the age of 30 and he also wanted to leave T20 International cricket to be a part of T20 leagues. De Kock was to participate in the Big Bash League to be held in Australia which was clashing with the T20 series against India. Because of this, the team management has not even selected him in the SA vs IND T20 squad.

Quinton de Kock had a sensational performance in the World Cup 2023, scoring 594 runs including four centuries in 10 matches. De Kock was the top scorer for South Africa in the tournament. Based on his performance, the team was able to reach the semi-finals, where they had to be eliminated from the tournament after losing to Australia.
