The Indian team will play the final of the World Test Championship against Australia from June 7. Earlier, Team India’s new kit sponsor Adidas released the jersey for all three formats. Now the Indian team will play in all three formats wearing a new jersey, which is quite different from the old jersey.
Sports brand Adidas is the new kit sponsor of Team India. The company itself released three different design jerseys for all three formats by releasing the video.
Team India will be seen in this jersey in the World Test Championship Final (WTC) to be played from June 7.
Last month, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) signed a contract with Adidas till 2028. Apart from the Indian men’s cricket team, Adidas will also sponsor the jerseys of the women’s senior national cricket team, India A, India B and the under-19 men’s and women’s cricket teams.
Jersey launched through drone
The program to launch the jersey was held at the Wankhede Stadium. Huge jerseys were blown in the air and brought in front of the world through drones.
Adidas India tweeted a video to inform about the event. The jersey of all three formats is visible in this video.
The Test jersey is white in colour with the name of India written in blue. Also, there are three stripes of blue colour on both sides of the shoulder. There are three stripes of blue colour on the right side of the chest, which are in increasing order from bottom to top.
Whereas, the ODI and T20 jerseys are blue. One jersey is of dark blue colour and the other is of light blue colour. For T20 International matches, Team India will take to the field wearing the dark blue collarless jersey. On the other hand, for ODIs, light blue colour has been used in the jersey, which has a collar.
These jerseys have been designed by Kashmir-based designer Aqib Wani. At the same time, the sleeve sponsor of the Indian cricket team is yet to be announced.
Prior to Adidas, Killer Jeans and before that MPL was the official jersey sponsor of the Indian team. MPL’s agreement with BCCI was from 2020 to the end of 2023, but the company decided to terminate the contract midway. After this Killer became the kit sponsor of Team India. Which was only for a short time.
Adidas has become the kit sponsor of the Indian cricket team till 2028. For this, Adidas will have to pay Rs 75 lakh to BCCI for every match. Adidas will make the jerseys of India’s men’s, women’s and under-19 teams.
Apart from the jerseys of the Indian team, Adidas will also be selling caps and accessories. Adidas will pay Rs 10 crore every year to the BCCI for this contract. Along with announcing the new jersey of the Indian team, Adidas has told that you can buy this jersey at the Adidas store.
The Indian team will play the final of the World Test Championship and the ODI World Cup 2023 wearing this jersey.
