Wanindu Hasaranga: Hasaranga took five wickets for 79 runs in 10 overs against Ireland. Earlier, he took five wickets against Oman and six wickets against UAE.

Sri Lankan leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga has created history in the ICC World Cup qualifiers. He took five wickets while bowling brilliantly in the ODI match played against Ireland on Sunday. On the basis of his performance, Sri Lanka defeated Ireland by 133 runs. With this defeat, Ireland’s dream of playing in World Cup-2023 was shattered. Hasaranga has taken five or more wickets in the third consecutive match and he has become the second bowler to do so in ODIs. Before him, former Pakistan captain Waqar Younis had done this work.

Hasaranga took five wickets for 79 runs in 10 overs against Ireland. Earlier he took five wickets for 13 runs against Oman and before that, he took six wickets for 24 runs against the United Arab Emirates. Waqar in November 1990 In three consecutive matches against New Zealand, he took five wickets for 11 runs, five wickets for 16 runs and then five wickets for 52 runs. With this victory, Sri Lanka reached the Super-6 while Ireland was eliminated.

Wanindu Hasaranga troubled Ireland’s Batsmen

Batting first in this match, Sri Lanka scored 325 runs losing all their wickets in 49.5 overs. In front of this score, the team of Ireland collapsed and could score only 192 runs. The whole team was all out in 31 overs. Hasaranga got Ireland’s big wickets in this match. He first lbw Ireland’s captain Andy Balbirnie. After this, Harry Tacker was made his victim. The captain scored 12 and Harry scored 33 runs. After this Hasaranga took two wickets in the 23rd over. He dismissed Gareth Delany (19), and Mark Eder (4) on the third ball of this over.

On the last ball of the 31st over, Hasaranga ended Ireland’s innings by catching Josh Little on his own ball. Apart from Hasaranga, Mahish Teekshana took two wickets. Kasun Rachita, Lahiru Kumar and Dasun Shanaka got one wicket each. Apart from the captain, Kurtis Camper scored an inning of 39 runs for Ireland. George Dockrell remained unbeaten after scoring 26 runs.

Karunaratne scored a century

Earlier, the Sri Lankan batsmen fiercely took notice of the Ireland bowlers. Opener Dimuth Karunaratne played an inning of 103 runs. For this, he faced only 103 balls and hit eight fours. Apart from him, Sadeera Samarawickrama played an inning of 82 runs in 86 balls with the help of four fours. Charitha Asalanka scored 38 runs in 30 balls. Dhananjay de Silva scored an unbeaten 42 runs. Mark took four wickets for Ireland, Barry McCarthy took three wickets.
