The clash between India and Australia in the final match of the ICC World Test Championship is now to start soon. This match is to be played at the Oval ground in London from June 7. Team India is number-1 in the Test rankings while the Australian team is on the second position, a thorny match is to be expected in this blockbuster game.
By the way, it is not going to be easy for team India to win against Australia at the Oval. The test record of the Indian team in past is not better on this ground. India has played a total of 14 Tests on this ground, in which it has won only 2 and lost in 5. While 7 matches have ended in a draw. That’s horrible to digest. But…..
Australia’s record is not good either
Australia’s record on the Oval ground is also not well too and Aussie has won only 7 out of 38 matches, while it has lost in 17 matches.
Head-To-Head
Talking about the head-to-head record between India and Australia, both teams have played 106 matches against each other. Australia has won 44 matches in this, whereas India has won 32 matches. Apart from this, there were 29 draws between the two and 1 match ended in a tie.
What to expect
By winning this final, Team India would like to end the drought of ‘The ICC Trophy’ which has been going on for the last 10 years. India last won the ICC trophy in 2013 under Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s leadership. The Indian team defeated England in the final of the Champions Trophy at that time. Since then, Team India has not been able to become the champion in any ICC tournament.
Team India had to face defeat in the final of the 2014 T20 World Cup. Then India was defeated in the semi-finals of the ODI World Cup (2015) and T20 World Cup (2016) as well.
India had a similar situation in Champions Trophy (2017), World Cup (2019) and World Test Championship Final (2021) as well.
Apart from this, the 2021 and 2022 T20 World Cups were also disappointing for India.
